Growing up in Long Beach, California, Shelley always knew she would one day call the mountains of Colorado home. In 1977, after attending the University of California, Santa Barbara, she and her husband, Jerry made that dream a reality, relocating to Steamboat Springs.
In 1979, they opened Mattie Silks, a beloved restaurant in Ski Time Square that they owned and operated for 22 years. Following its success, Shelley and Jerry transitioned into development, construction, and real estate. Jerry went on to develop notable Steamboat communities, including Anglers Retreat and Graystone on the Green. Shelley joined Colorado Group Realty in 2000, became an owner in 2003, and has since served in multiple leadership roles, including ten years on the Board of Directors. She currently serves as Managing Broker and has been recognized with numerous honors, including Broker of the Year (2008 and 2011) and Most Outgoing Referrals (2015 and 2016). With over four decades of experience living and working in the Yampa Valley, Shelley brings deep local knowledge and expertise to every client she serves.
Shelley and Jerry raised three children in Steamboat, and her family remains deeply connected to the community. Her children have gone on to successful careers across the country, with her son now partnering with her in real estate as part of “The Stanford Team.” Throughout the years, Shelley has been actively involved in local organizations, volunteering with youth sports, schools, and community events. She has served on numerous boards, including the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association, Mountain Business Association, and Restaurant Association, and was the Founder and Chairperson of the Fall Foliage Festival.
Shelley embraces the active Colorado lifestyle and has been known to swap business attire for hockey skates, water skis, or hiking boots. She enjoys water skiing, camping, hiking, gardening, and spending time with her dogs. Now living in North Routt near Steamboat Lake, she especially treasures the peaceful surroundings and scenic drives that change with every season. Having witnessed the incredible growth and evolution of the Yampa Valley, Shelley remains passionate about the community she calls home. “Most people come for the winters, but stay for the summers,” she says. “It’s the beauty, the people, and the lifestyle that make Steamboat so special.”
Shelley is proud to be part of The Group Real Estate and is committed to delivering professionalism, integrity, and exceptional service. She would love the opportunity to put her experience and local expertise to work for you.
